Happy Saint Patrick’s Day EDM fam! Finally, after two reclusive weeks, the site is back up and the Bass Bulletin has returned to RVAmag. Perfect timing with some big news and much to catch up on with you all. As we begin our weekly run again, I wanted to take this time to thank RVAmag for the opportunity and most importantly, all of you that keep up with the Bass Bulletin weekly. I’d like to invite every single one of you to engage with us at WRR regarding this weekly feature and any thoughts or suggestions you might have. Do you want more of this and less of that? Join our community on facebook and please let us know. Your input is majorly appreciated.
“We’re all just freaks man.” The biggest and most exciting announcement had to come from America’s number one DJ, Kaskade. The trance house extraordinaire released the schedule for his Freak Of Nature Tour this week, his tour across the US. Last year he did it through Identity Festival, but this time he is stirring a much more intimate brew. Kaskade, AKA Ryan Raddon, is hitting smaller venues instead of massive festival grounds, to entice fans by creating an atmosphere unlike any before. “People who’ve seen me before will never have seen this, and for those who have yet to see me, it’ll only enhance the experience that much more.” Need I really say any more? The Chicago native also was added to the Hangout Festival line up, which desperately needed fire for an electronic bill which was a flickering flame at best. Closest show to Richmond is in Baltimore at 1st Mariner Arena.
Perhaps I have bombarded you with Daft Punk rumors over the course of these Bass Bulletins, but what else do we really have? It’s been 7 years since Human After All, and these guys have been so quiet that DP addicts have spanned many withdrawals, and are shaking violently for their fix. Chew on this: Iconic singer-songwriter Paul Williams is working with the duo somewhere in New York on a new album. Rumor says June. Rumor says new album = possible tour. Yeah, you can exhale now. A new Daft Punk album would seemingly reincarnate what is currently a black hole in electronic music: the presence of untouchables in the game.
On a final note, I have two different hour-long mixes you need to download and listen to when you're smoking quality weed, drinking your Legend Brown Ale, having steamy sex... or whenever, for that matter. The first is our AbsolutElectro podcast, by our team member out of LA, Ben Hebert, which we release every Friday for your pre-gaming desires. Second is an awesome take on jazzy funk electronica done by our friends here at RVAmag and WhiteRaverRafting, Bassdread. It’s called ‘em>Nothin But The Funk; a straight hour-long vibe of seductive groove music. If you read the interview we did with them, you will understand the theory and purpose behind the mix. This duo is hella musically inclined.
