DAILY FIX: Gull, "Fast Enough"

Here's a live performance by talented RVA musician and one-man band Nate Rappole, aka Gull. Gull's notorious for creating music that seems like it should require several people playing different instruments together to make. However, Rappole does the whole thing by himself, and while he does utilize electronic technology to some extent, the main ingredient to his crazy one-man band sound is his ability to play a guitar and a drum kit at the same time, all while singing through a mask with a built-in microphone. The dramatic and energetic take on the song "Fast Enough" that you'll see in the following video was documented by the internet TV show Wreckroom a few weeks ago, and an audio version of the recording can be downloaded from Wreckroom's bandcamp page by clicking HERE. Gull is currently traveling in Kenya, accompanied by documentary filmmaker Len Albright, who is filming Rappole's on-the-street performances to be included as part of his Street Muse Project, a documentary about street musicians around the world. As habitual visitors to Carytown during the summer months can tell you, Gull is capable of some very memorable street performances, so I can imagine that he'll make quite the impression on the citizens of Nairobi who get a chance to see him play. You can keep up with Gull's travels in Kenya by following the Street Muse Project on Twitter, HERE.
