Check it out, folks--it's a brand new video from pretty much the ultimate hardcore supergroup. Featuring original Black Flag and Circle Jerks vocalist Keith Morris, OFF! could probably catch everybody's attention even if the rest of the members were a bunch of no-name yahoos. However, with Hot Snakes/Clikatat Ikatowi drummer Mario Rubalcaba manning the kit, Redd Kross founding member Steven McDonald on bass, and Burning Brides leader Dimitri Coats on guitar, these guys are overloaded with talent at all positions, and have proved it steadily since forming a few years ago. They began their recording career in 2010 by dropping four EPs in four months, which were then compiled into a debut full-length of sorts called, naturally, The First Four EPs. Recently, they came out with their first true full-length, a self-titled release on Vice Records (you can order it and a bunch of other OFF! merch by clicking HERE), and this video for "Cracked," from that album, is the beginning of a trilogy of videos from that album, all of which will be directed by Whitey McConnaughy. "Cracked" is the story of a competition between two sign spinners working the same block, and the competition's quick escalation and short duration is exactly in keeping with OFF!'s short-fast-loud aesthetic (they've released over 30 songs in the past two years and have yet to write one that goes past the two-minute mark). "Cracked" is an excellent song that proves that old-school hardcore can still yield great results if it's done right, and its video is the perfect blast of gleefully transgressive imagery to go along with OFF!'s blazing hardcore brilliance. Feast your eyes.
