DAILY FIX: Municipal Waste, "Repossession"

Here's something I've been meaning to get to for a while--a really fun video from the new Municipal Waste album, The Fatal Feast, which was released a couple of months ago on Nuclear Blast Records. "Repossession," the song the video is for, is also the A-side of the bonus blue vinyl 7 inch included with the deluxe pop-up vinyl edition of the new album. That 7 inch was released by Scion, the car company who for whatever reason has become a big high-profile supporter of heavy music over the last three years, and in addition to releasing that 7 inch for the Waste, they also bankrolled this awesome video. Filmed in a junkyard, the Dave Brodsky-directed clip creates a fantasy world in which the Waste boys are not just a band but also work as a repo firm, swiping everything from TVs and couches to big gas-guzzling vans driven by pizza delivery drivers. That van is portrayed by the old Waste tour van, Pablo, and at the end of the video, Pablo gets crushed in an industrial-size compactor--probably the worthiest sendoff any touring vehicle can receive. There are also plenty of shots of the band performing the song in the middle of a junkyard, which is pretty cool, especially when Ryan Waste plays a blazing solo while surrounded by piles of junked cars. Ryan also deserves some credit for his amazing turn as a juggalo who gets his bike repo-ed. Hilarious. Anyway, the whole thing is awesome and you should really check it out. And if you haven't picked up a copy of The Fatal Feast yet, what are you waiting for? There are apparently a few copies of the pop-up vinyl edition with the bonus 7 inch still left, so grab one for yourself now before they're all gone! And look for an interview with Municipal Waste in the next print issue of RVA Magazine, coming next month!
