Hey, guess what, everybody? Local ragers Hex Machine are releasing a new full-length album entitled Fixator next month on Learning Curve Records. The first track has hit the internet, and we've got it here for you! "Shameless Premonition" fits solidly in line with what Hex Machine have been doing for years--pounding midtempo postpunk rock n' roll with a twisted songwriting sense that tilts everything slightly off-kilter. Fans of bands like the Jesus Lizard and the Melvins will love this. The video isn't all that eventful--the cover of the new album floats in the foreground, while in the background an image of a black and white dot pattern slowly rotates--but I'll bet if you're tripping while you listen to it, it'll keep your attention. And this is the kind of music for which drugs were invented, really.
Fixator comes out August 28, and is produced by Tim Green, who plays guitar in the Fucking Champs and has produced the Melvins and Earthless, among many others. Hex Machine will be doing an American tour once the album is out, featuring their original drummer, Dave Witte (Municipal Waste, Burnt By The Sun), back behind the kit. So hopefully we'll get a Richmond performance with that lineup in September. I mean, we better! Until then, though, enjoy this new song:
