Everyone who follows the metal scene here in RVA knows that Inter Arma has been killing it for years now, but it looks like they aren't RVA's best-kept secret anymore. Only a couple of months after the release their 12-inch EP entitled Destroyer, which came out on Toxic Assets Records back in June, Inter Arma have signed to Relapse Records. The group, which consists of vocalist Mike Paparo, guitarists Steven Russell and Trey Dalton, bassist Joe Kerkes, and drummer TJ Childers, expect to release their second full-length and Relapse debut in early 2013. Their first LP, Sundown, was released on RVA label Forcefield Records back in 2010. The group had this to say about the signing: "It's pretty crazy to think that we'll be tacitly associated with bands like Neurosis, Amorphis, Human Remains, Disembowelment, Dillinger Escape Plan, Incantation, Mastodon, et al. That's a pretty high standard to hold yourself to, but we'll give it our damndest." I'm sure everyone in RVA is just as excited as we are to see what they come up with!
Copies of Destroyer are still available from Toxic Assets, and can be ordered HERE. Additionally, the record can be streamed HERE. And by the way, check out the feature story on Inter Arma we ran in our summer 2011 issue HERE!
