DAILY FIX: Magick Margaritasville

Here's a truly bizarre short film for you all to puzzle over. Put together by John Sebastian Vitale & Richard Perkins, two VA visual artists that we've featured in our print edition in the past, this video is certainly interesting, though it's also a bit difficult to understand. Girls dressed entirely in black, sitting on a trshed limo singing Disney theme songs? Rollerskating through a suburban neighborhood, storming deserted playgrounds? Long static shots of the girls' faces as they stare into the camera, expressionless? It all reminds me of a Harmony Korine film--and I have just as much trouble making linear sense of it as I did of Julien Donkey-Boy. Fortunately, Richard Perkins recently spoke to Frank151 about Magick Margaritasville, and he gave some explanation of what's going on in the film:

There are three black goth girls, one moves away and leaves, the other two have to recruit a new girl, and all thats left are white girls. So they recruit a white girl, she gets bored with them and leaves too. The only person left to recruit in their crew is this 9 year old little white girl who was walking thru the park.

This statement fills in the gaps to some extent, but there's still plenty of room for interpretation here, which I'm sure is how they wanted it. So check out the film and draw your own conclusions:
