Henry Rollins has been a true rock n' roll renaissance man for over three decades now. Making his name starting in 1981 with a five-year stint singing for hardcore pioneers Black Flag, he went on to lead legendary alternative rockers Rollins Band for over two decades. By the late 80s, he was expanding his creative efforts into many other areas--writing, acting, and most importantly, spoken word. Rollins has been doing spoken word tours since the early 80s, taking stages in venues that mainly present loud rock music armed with nothing more than a microphone and his own passionate speech. At first, he only did this when his bands were taking a break, but today it's his main focus, in which Rollins travels the world and shares his opinions with attentive audiences, often for upwards of three hours per night.

Now, with the United States presidential election right around the corner, Rollins has hit the road with his Capitalism tour. Unlike many of his previous tours, this one has an overtly political theme, as Rollins attempts to get his audiences thinking about aspects of the political process that they may not usually consider, but nonetheless have direct bearing on their lives. The final stop of the tour will take place on the eve of Election Day in Washington DC, but Henry's making a lot of stops around the US on his way to our nation's capital, and he'll be bringing his fiery words to the stage at RVA's own The National on Sunday, October 21.
