Here is a quick, blow-by-blow recap of a lot of stuff that is going on in the Richmond punk and metal scene right now. This is by no means everything, but it’s a start. Enjoy.

Local thrashers Humungus are planning a US tour for the summer, they just released a vinyl EP on Forcefield Records, and made a video for the A-side, “Drinkin’ A Beer.” Occultist are playing lots of shows in the Virginia area with Black Tusk and Iron Reagan. Their Hell By Our Hands EP is now available for download via bandcamp as well as on tape, and their Death Sigilis full-length is about to be released.
Cough and Windhand are releasing a split album on Relapse, and Windhand’s song “Heap Wolves” was featured on a Metal Hammer compilation. Unholy Thoughts got a good review from Crucial Blast, and their album is up for streaming on Forcefield Record’s bandcamp.
Organ Donor is Andy Horn's (Battlemaster/Cannabis Corpse) new band--they play old school, splattery thrash metal, and they’ve already played shows in Philly and New York. Unsacred’s grindy Three Sisters is available on tape and online for free.

Iron Reagan had the song “The Debt Collector” premiered by Decibel. They are touring the East Coast, and they were recently covered in Terrorizer. Their full length LP, Worse Than Dead, will be out March 8, and their local record release show (also featuring Humungus, Occultist, and Unsacred) will take place at Strange Matter on March 9. Corpsinator just released a self-titled demo and played a show in Baltimore.

Cannabis Corpse are currently on tour in Europe. Municipal Waste had a song featured in the Vans parade (which has now showed up in a commercial), and will be on the Metal Alliance tour this March and April with Anthrax. Nervous Ticks just had a reissue of their Death To Videodrome EP and a 7” called "Badlands" released by two different Italian labels. The Eurotics have a spinoff band called Naked Baby who have recently been playing a lot of shows around Richmond.
