While the titles of writer, actor, and comedian are certainly fitting for L.A. based entertainer Duncan Trussell, it’s necessary to include his lesser known but still impressive titles as podcast host, spiritual guru, and rogue philosopher to give the full picture of his talent. Some of his credentials include Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time, MadTV, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Funny or Die Presents, and a recurring spot on Joe Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience.” Duncan’s non-aggressive, playful persona allows his comedy to be both hilarious and thought-provoking, with off-kilter material ranging from politics and religion to drugs and cyborgs. If you spend an hour listening to his podcast, “Duncan Trussell’s Family Hour,” you’ll be convinced that Duncan is some sort of a comedy-messiah-wizard genius, someone that you could have an endless conversation with. Thanks to Hit Play and The Midnight Suggestion, Duncan Trussell (Drunken Tussle) will be performing at Strange Matter this Tuesday 3/26 for those who wish to be in his all-knowing presence. Joining him are two of Richmond’s finest comics, David Marie-Garland and Michal Ketner.

While the following video doesn't exactly give you a preview of what you'll see on Tuesday, it does give you some insight into Duncan Trussell's worldview, as well as featuring some Kevin Bacon-style connections to RVA. Originally produced as part of a pilot for Trussell's Comedy Central show Thunderbrain (which was never actually picked up, unfortunately). This short clip, entitled "Stoned Ape Theory," was written by Trussell and features animation and voiceover effects by Will Carsola of RVA's own Daybyday. Check it out, and get on Duncan Trussell's level.
