On Wednesday, May 1, Maryland stoner-rock pioneers Clutch kicked off the second leg of their Earth Rocker Tour at The National, and multiple members of the RVA Magazine staff were in attendance. Released back in March, Earth Rocker is Clutch's tenth album, and Clutch brought the rock fury at The National in fine fashion. They were supported by Austin, Texas's The Sword, a band with RVA roots--singer/guitarist JD Cronise led Richmond band The Ultimate Dragons back in the late 90s--and Lionize, a reggae band from Maryland that sometimes features Clutch's Tim Sult on second guitar. The entire evening was captured on film by photographer extraordinaire Anthony Hall, who we profiled back in issue #7 of RVA Magazine. Here's what he brought back for us:
