Sara Bohannon has a graduate degree in poetry, and goes to a lot of local shows. She was writing show reviews for us for a while, until she got bored with the format. But recently she came up with a new spin on the old formula, so we hereby present the inaugural installment of Sara's haiku show review column, which we will hopefully be running every couple of weeks. Enjoy!

Whoa!
Whoa. Everyone here
looks like a younger version
of someone I know.
Totally missed Whoa!
Holy reverb, so much
cuter than the Ramones. Shame
it's last time around.
That harmonica
solo--was it better than
Gorilla Biscuits?
All this to say--I've
not seen that much shred come from
under newsboy cap.
Devil smiles across
the south like Emmylou had
finally killed Gram.
Except that's not what
this sounds like at all; hi hat,
down beat, rock n roll.

Vintage Fender fuzz.
Pop fuzz like a skating rink.
Better drumming, though.
Not like good dreams, not
like bad. Remember when the
Pumpkins didn't suck?
Harmonies, sing me
sleepy--"Drivin' on 9" with
beer in hand, speeding.

Happy dagger. Glib
sludge. The mud on my boots
slides, wriggling, wet.
Harsh delivery
not working for you? That's fine.
Tonight, for me, yes.
Insides shift--good way.
Feet shift. Up. Down. Up. Around.
Shifty shift. Move. Soar.
Rev, rev, cheerlead, shake
shit. Shake shake to fro. Go! Make
us want more. So bad.
