The Stone Soul Music and Food Festival, which bills itself as Richmond’s “largest R&B, Gospel and Hip Hop festival,” is back, taking place this year on Saturday, June 1st 2013. This year will mark the ninth annual occurrence of this local event, which is presented by Radio One. Unlike past years, which have been at Brown's Island, this year's edition will take place at Richmond International Raceway. The lineup features a mix of new artists such as Future, B.o.B. and French Montana, as well as artists that bring back memories, like Bell Biv Devoe.

Stone Soul is also a food festival, so do not eat a heavy breakfast; the Soul Food Kitchen, featuring over a dozen local soul food restaurants, will start cooking at noon. While it is tempting to dress nicely, there will be lines and long periods of standing--so no heels. The festival is happening right at the beginning of summer, and with temperatures expected to hit 90 degrees, you're well advised to drink plenty of liquids and bring a hat to keep off the sun. You should also bring a good attitude, and do not resist the urge to dance.

Tickets are onsale now for $35 and can be purchased at BK Music, Richmond area DTLR stores and Little Caesar's locations, and at Radio One studios. They are also available online--to order, click HERE. A portion of the proceeds goes to Make A Wish Foundation of Greater Virginia. The festival takes place at the Richmond International Raceway Complex, located at 600 E. Laburnum Ave. Gates will open at noon, and parking is free. For more information visit ipowerrichmond.com.
