Next up for the Richmond Mural project is another Argentinian artist by the name of Sonni. He was actually not scheduled to be part of the event but after a collaborative show of Argentenian artists, Sonni accepted an opportunity to come down and put up one of his signature, playful characters on the side of Portrait House in Carytown. Because he has a show in Bushwick, Brooklyn this weekend, he will only be doing a small character as opposed to a larger piece like the above boombox he did at Wynwood-Miami.

The gallery show of Argentenian artists also featured work from JAZ, who was here for last year's G40 mural event, and Ever, who is currently working on his second mural at Club 534, across from the Siegel Center. He has another long day ahead of him but should be done by Tuesday. His piece represents one of the first murals in the city (correct me if I’m wrong) that depicts a culturally diverse aesthetic. Brown people are under represented across the board in RVA and it’s crazy that it took an artist from another country to come through and bridge that gap. It sets a positive precedent that hopefully will not get some blowback from the city for absolutely no good reason (although something tells me it might). We will see…. In the meantime, go check out the spots!
Big shouts to Ben Larson for keeping the artists on track and well taken care of. And he white rolled almost that whole wall by himself!
