The Head and The Heart have been under the radar for the last few years. After the wild success of a home-burned CD-R release, indie-lable Sub Pop scooped them up and re-released the self-titled album to continued success.
John Russell, lead singer and guitar player for the band, spoke with RVA Mag about their upcoming release:
I can’t wait to play these songs out, because I really love these songs. I’m so proud of what we did with these songs. Some of these songs I’ve had before we started touring on the last record. They were written after we recorded the first record and we didn’t have any money and the rest of them have just been written over the course of the last three years. For so long, they were just acoustic songs until they saw the light of day and now they’ve been worked out and have full band arrangements around them. They’re just more relevant to our lives now.
