We lost one of the nicest guys in the Richmond music scene this weekend. Rapper Joe Threat passed away late Saturday night of unknown causes. In a scene with competition and beef around every corner, Joe was everyone's friend. We've heard from a lot of people around town who are shattered to learn that he's gone. A lot of us here at RVA Mag knew him too, and we share in the grief. We'll have a proper memorial for him in the upcoming print issue of RVA, but for now feel free to use our comments section to share your memories of him.
Fellow Gritty City rapper Seap One passed away earlier this year; he was one of Joe's closest friends. Tragically, both Seap and Joe's deaths followed soon after the release of their respective albums, The Sickness Of Seap and Sinister Circus. Both were strong statements from young musicians in their prime, with plenty more to give. Sadly, we'll hear no more from either of them. RIP.
