This Saturday, August 24, at The Canal Club, the God's Morning Foundation presents the first annual K-Bux Scholarship Fundraiser, an event intended to commemorate the legacy of Kleph Dollaz. Kleph Dollaz, aka Darrell Durant, a highly respected local producer and emcee, passed away last summer, leaving behind a strong body of work and the sadness that always comes with an early, untimely death. Before his death, Kleph Dollaz was active in the community, working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Richmond to try and improve the lives of at-risk youth by providing a positive example of the power of art and music to improve your life. In the wake of his death, the God's Morning Foundation was established by Kleph's family as a nonprofit group that will honor his legacy by providing scholarships for at-risk youth.

Saturday's event also celebrates the completion of the Kleph Dollaz Mural, currently being installed on the wall of Alex’s Thai Cuisine restaurant, located at 13 N. 17th Street. The mural will face Walnut Alley, across from the Farmer's Market. The creation of the mural is being directed by Philadelphia artist Michelle Angela Ortiz in collaboration with the God's Morning Foundation. There will be a mural dedication ceremony at 11 AM on Saturday. The concert and fundraiser will take place that night at The Canal Club, located at 1545 E. Cary St.

The First Annual K-Bux Scholarship Fundraiser will be hosted by local comedian Micah "Bam-Bamm" White, and feature performances from a variety of local hip hop, R&B, and soul musicians, including DMP, Nottz, Erikka J, Jarrard Anthony, M.I.M.S., Q The Prophet and many others. Doors open at 8:30. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Advance tickets are available from the Canal Club's online ticket center--click here to order.
