Day 1 of Fashion Week is already off to an amazing start. So Far, Richard Chai Love, BCBG Max Azria, ZAC Zac Posen, L.A.M.B., Veronica Beard, Tia Cibani, Robert Rodriguez, Organic by John Patrick, Whit, Lisa Perry, Red Valentino and Josie Natori have sent their looks down the runway. Some of my favorite shows were:
BCBG Max Azria
BCBG’s collection could be summed up in two words: clean and light. This collection was surprisingly different from BCBG’s Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection, which was edgy, urban and dark. This collection was full of lightweight fabrics in boxy silhouettes with attention to detail, line and asymmetries. Most of the looks were styled with lace-up, open toe booties in taupe, white stilettos, black stilettos, small, ivory shoulder bags or ivory clutches. The models were sent down the runway with their hair in long loose waves parted down the middle with natural makeup and short nude or bare nails.
Richard Chai Love
Red, white, blue and black were the main colors in Love’s runway collection. There were a few looks that incorporated an aquamarine color with some burnt orange. This season focused on vertical and horizontal lines, boxy silhouettes and lightweight fabrics with a recurring poppy flower print, plaid print and a camouflage poppy print in different shades of aqua. The models’ hair was parted down the middle for a very sleek look with naked nails. The female models were styled with black strappy pointed-toe flats or white, black, or tan diamond-laced open toe high-heeled sandals. The Male Models wore black or white leather sneakers with ankle length black or white socks.
ZAC Zac Posen
Based on Asian textile, Zac Posen’s spring 2014 collection brings flare to classic American fashion. As always with Posen, lines were the focus of this season’s collection as well. In Posen’s showroom, he featured one black model that wore all of his clothes with hair parted down the middle and loose curls. Her flawless skin complimented the oranges, yellows, cobalt blues, whites, reds and blacks featured in this collection. Her makeup was very natural and soft on the eyes but paired with a dark plum lip.
L.A.M.B.
Punk has been the newest fashion craze this year. Gwen Stefani’s style has always been rebellious and punk inspired which is why this year brings back relevancy to Gwen Stefani’s brand. However, Stefani pushed the envelope almost too much in the past which is why this collection is softer than previous collections. Orange, black and white were heavy in this collection’s color palette with floral print dresses, tops, skirts and trousers. Styled with laced up high-heeled sandals, quirky glasses and big or spiked hair.
