Already dreaming about the weekend? If not, you should be, as it is going to be awesome. Start rounding up your friends and organizing a car to get on down to Norfolk on Saturday, September 14 the Embrace The Culture Indie Music and Arts Festival, or ETC for short. Just over an hours drive from Richmond, this festival will set you back a whopping ZERO dollars.

ETC has been created to act as a platform for local musicians, artists, filmmakers and foodies to share their talents with the greater community. The festival will feature three stages of acts, most, admittedly, unknown to Richmond locals. Don’t let that put you off, you naysayers. This is a chance to discover some new favorites and broaden your music horizons!

Brooklyn indie rockers Delta Spirit will be headlining, with other notable acts including indie-folk trio Good Old War, psychedelic songstress Sophie Harton from North Carolina
and Electric Guest from LA The festival grounds will also be home to the Repurpose-Style Art & Retail Marketplace. See the list of vendors here and retailers

Note to y’all: Christmas is creepily close and people love receiving gifts, they make up for a multitude of sins done against others. Apart from original gift ideas and knowing you’re supporting locals and not some faceless corporate
man, there will be a plethora of vintage clothes just waiting for you to pick through. All that viewing, browsing and chilling is bound to make you hungry, so the ETC organizers have set up a ‘Food Truck Court’. The court will feature Twisted

Sisters Cupcakes, Mexican yumness from Panavoir and healthy options from Fruitive If you have some time up your sleeve, consider heading to Norfolk on Friday the to make the most of the ETC/ Veer Magazine Fringe Festival. Downtown 13 Norfolk and Ghenti will be getting in on the ETC action with live music, poetry readings and dining specials scattered throughout the town. Veer are holding a ‘Local Music Scene Photography Contest’ , with entries to be displayed at the festival. The ETC Festival will be taking place at Town Point Park in Downtown Norfolk.

Remember, this festival is FREE and will be relaxing fun. See all you (Nor) folks there!
