Richmond's own Hardywood Brewery suffered a heart breaking loss yesterday as one of their fermenting tank clamp failed and about 1,500 gallons of one of the best brews in the city spilled on to the factory floor. A post on their Facebook account shed some light on the horrible details:
With heavy hearts we must announce that due to a clamp failure we had to watch 50 barrels of Bourbon Gingerbread Stout come rocketing out of one of our fermenters last night. Think opening a shaken up can of coke 21 thousand times that size.
The bourbon barrel version of the famed Gingerbread Stout has a slightly higher ABV, making it a little better and more seasonally appropriate - what better way to ignore your family and/or embrace close friends than to get tanked on fine local suds?
Luckily, some of the batch was salvageable:
The good news is that we were able to save a portion of the beer which will be sold at the regular price on Saturday. Quantities will be very limited…so, get here early!
Looks like one of the most limited beers in the city has now become even more valuable. I can't wait to see listings for this stuff on Craigslist next to XBox 1s and PS4s...
You can snag one of the remainder bottles of bourbon GBS this Saturday, 2 PM, at the brewery.
