OG !LLA - #ForTheFuckOfIt | Elite Edition (Datpiff)
OG !LLA, formerly known as So !LLA, has risen once again from the blunt ashes to remind us one thing: he does not give a fuck. Why else would one release a project called #ForTheFuckOfIt twice? So before you even press play, tell your inner Hip-Hop head to relax--rules will be broken. !LLA wants you to know off top that all BSE (Broad Street Elite) Hooligan-ing aside, he can rhyme; as the accapella "Intro," rich with his signature cadence and bravado, shows and proves. My favorite line: "I'm a real ass dude/ I'll leave the acting to you" sums up !LLA's controversial yet hard earned attitude and reputation.
Right after that is his homage to Richmond, "Welcome to Fist City" (produced by DJ Gringo), which is a warning to the listener that this whole project is going to be a wild ride, with a lot of "uh" and "yeah" adlibs. "IMA HLGN" follows, as !LLA hits you with a flow that goes all over the place but is balanced by the steady delivery of the laid back yet always "turnt" Rich P. "RunRVA" gives you a stern dose of what is to come as OG spits "my hustle has become somewhat of a leg-end... but f that/ f this/ this is for the F of it/ can I get a sec-ond..."
"Antics" (produced by The New Juice Crew's Lord Slugg), though short, is where !LLA really shines, as the beat and his voice are ominously manipulated. My personal favorite, the extra ratchet "CPSR" (produced by DJ Gringo), finds a fast rhyming !LLA talking the kind of shit you would expect a self proclaimed Hooligan to be talking. "Loud" starts out questionably, but then So Proper's own Ms. Proper comes through and saves the day with a strong verse to remind everyone that just because she left Richmond does not mean "her spot" as a true MC is vacant.
At 20 tracks, one can't help but feel that this project runs a little long for the uninitiated, but hey--your opinion clearly does not matter, as OG !LLA put this project out twice himself... #ForTheFuckOfIt.
