One Way Richmond, the locally-oriented blog that's been keeping tabs on the RVA scene for over two years now, has released their year-end music awards for 2011, and it's a huge post, covering every facet of the local underground scene and then some. Believe me, we at RVA do our best to keep track of everything going on in the city, music-wise, but OWR head honcho John Lewis Morgan even stumps us with a few of his picks. But that's what's great about the typical year-end bonanza of best-of lists: it gives you a chance to see what everyone else was digging over the past year, and to catch up on the things you might have missed. And as comprehensive as John's list is, there's probably plenty on there that you haven't heard. Best of all, everything here is locally based, meaning you could ideally go check all of it out over the course of your next few free weekend nights! This is the perfect way to get more in tune with all of the great stuff going on around this city, the artists and events that keep RVA's music scene at the top of the list where music scenes in the United States are concerned, year after year. Yes, we're serious about that.

And by the way, many thanks to One Way Richmond for selecting us as the Best Richmond Music Scene Media Source. We only hope we can continue to earn that title in 2012.
