There is not much I can say about Isaiah & Hovey - not because I have not had the opportunity to familiarize myself with their work, but because in the onslaught of brief but rave reviews, and passing recommendations I've been given by respected members of the RVA Hip Hop scene, I've been hard pressed to find the time to do so. Today was my first taste of what I hope to be a long relationship with their releases.
"Smoke Signals" is ambient and mellow. If this is your introduction to the duo you might find it's laid-back lyrical confidence pleasing. If you're familiar, the melding of the abecedarian visual representation with intentionally coarse production should make their efforts aptly dynamic.
