Richmond native and VCU alumnus Reece Camp Carter has two of her Gum Bicromate Photographic Prints--House of Extravaganza One (1998) and Moab (1997)--on display in Page Bond Gallery at 1625 W. Main St. Her unique choice of medium creates a textured dreamscape for each of her subjects. The blankets of color and detail within each piece sit on the border between surrealism and illustration.

Carter received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from VCU's highly regarded sculpture program in 2000, and earned her Masters of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute in May of 2010. Her work was nominated for the Art Now Foundation's 2010 Pioneer Art Award, and she has exhibited her work in galleries around the States, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Utah Museum of Fine Arts, and Southern Exposure Gallery. Though Carter has many photography pieces, she considers herself a video artist "who creates temporary experience though installation, sound, video, and performance."

Carter is planning to complete her next bodies of work in Australia and Switzerland. These pieces will explore glacial depletion by "sonic values of echoes" and "an artistic investigation into oral tradition of current agrarian and oceanic subcultures." Here are a few more of her past works:
