DAILY FIX: Joe Threat Opens For A$AP Rocky

Last Thursday night, local rapper Joe Threat opened up for A$AP Rocky at The National. Playing for a packed house of local hip-hop heads, this was his chance to blow everyone away and take things to the next level. Well, as you may have heard by now, it didn't exactly go down like that. The crowd turned on Joe pretty quickly, throwing ice cubes and plastic cups at him and booing at the end of every song. The question hearing about this raised in my mind, and I'm sure in quite a few other people's minds, was: Was his set really that bad? Did he do something to get everyone in the place to hate him? Or was it just bad luck? Fortunately, there is video from the set, so we can all draw our own conclusions. Regardless of what conclusion you come to, though, you have to give Joe props for a) continuing to play as the entire crowd launched projectiles in his direction, and b) posting this video on his blog, which is where we found it. It doesn't show his entire set, only excerpts, so there may have been something going on during the sections that are cut out which led to him bombing with the crowd at The National, but honestly, from the video evidence here, it seems to me like he did all right. It's hard to tell what would have caused the negative reaction he got. But like I said earlier, draw your own conclusions. Here's the video:
