DAILY FIX: Goldrush, "It's Too Late"

Hey folks, here's a brand new video from Richmond's favorite pop/classical hybrid quartet, Goldrush! The song, "It's Too Late," comes from their EP We Don't Have To Worry, which was released last year. It features an upbeat verse with a catchy melody that brings to mind the Dusty Springfield classic "I Only Want To Be With You" (which has also been a hit for The Bay City Rollers and Samantha Fox over the years). This section is paired with a slower, more downbeat chorus, which eventually builds up to a melodramatic climax that's given extra weight by the classical strings that give Goldrush their standout sound. The video, meanwhile, mixes close-up shots of the band members' hands playing their instruments with the text of the song's lyrics, which pile up onto the screen as their sung, in lovely geometrical arrangements, over bright-colored backgrounds. The whole thing has a very 60s-retro feel, which is the perfect visual accompaniment for a band like Goldrush, whose sound is so clearly grounded in the classic pop sounds of the British Invasion.

And by the way, folks, if you enjoy this video, be sure to head out to Cafe Diem tonight to see Goldrush perform! The show starts at 9:30 and is absolutely free, plus you may even get a chance to pick up a copy of the We Don't Have To Worry EP (which, according to their label's website, is available strictly at live Goldrush performances), assuming it didn't sell out at some point in the past. Hey, if nothing else, you can download a free mp3 of "It's Too Late" from Goldrush's reverbnation account, so you really can't lose!
