The G40 Art Summit celebrated its opening here in RVA on April 6 as part of the First Friday Art Walk. Over the course of that weekend, several big events were held at multiple spaces along Broad St, centered around the temporarily installed G40 Gallery, located at 115 W. Broad St. A massive amount of art, on display throughout the month, was revealed to the public that night. Additionally, a special G40 reception, featuring a live Art Battle, was held the next night, Saturday April 7. Blogger Kimberly "Kokopop" Morris was on the scene both nights, and had this to say:
This past weekend I, and hundreds, if not thousands, of others attended the 2012 Art Whino “Art of the Mural” Exhibit, which also included over 500 artists displaying their own pieces of heaven. So many great artists. Tons of murals and a shit ton of incredible art throughout several galleries… What more could you ask for? Even though I went on 2 separate days, I STILL was unable to view everything that Richmond had to offer.
However, she did take a ton of pictures, and we are now able to share some of those with you.
Rest assured, that is only a tiny fraction of the pictures she took, the rest of which are posted on her blog.
