Back before it was ever a moving picture, there was the Rocky Horror Show, a stage musical that opened in London in 1973. The 1975 film version attained more mainstream fame, but the stage show is the original, and now the Firehouse Theatre Project is bringing that show to the stage once again, right here in RVA! Headed up by director Jase Smith (RENT, The Great American Trailer Park Musical, A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant, Reefer Madness!), who is returning to the Firehouse Theatre for his fifth year in a row, this production intends to break some new ground on the nearly 40-year-old original production. "“This is not your mother’s Rocky Horror," Smith states. "The songs and story are there, but we are really pushing the limits of what this show is about. I want to bring a fresh modern take on something very well known.” The cast for this production features Terence Sullivan as Frank N. Furter, Nick Shackleford as Brad, Aly Wepplo as Janet, Nick Aliff as Riff Raff, and many other talented local actors.

That sweet transvestite and his motley crew are coming to Richmond this Summer! Break out the corsets and stilettos and let's do the Time Warp again. Dr. Frankenfurter is having a party and poor Brad and Janet need to use his phone. They are treated to an evening of singing, dancing and outright craziness. Come see why this show is still drawing fervent fans nearly 40 years later.

The Rocky Horror Show, book, music and lyrics by Richard O’Brien, is a highly stylized and satirical political commentary. It contains adult humor, drug use, as well as suggested violence and sexual explicitness. It therefore may be inappropriate for younger audiences. While we encourage our audience to participate by dressing up and singing along, for the safety of our actors and patrons we ask that you do not throw any items on stage or in the theatre.
