It's no secret that Deanna Danger is at the forefront of RVA's burlesque scene. From her work establishing her Boom Boom Basics burlesque studio and classes to staging multiple Byrlesque At The Byrd performance extravaganzas, Deanna is constantly working to take the local burlesque scene to new levels. And now, with the Mason Dixie Burlesque Tour, she's moving beyond RVA to take her talents to the entire East Coast! In fact, the Mason Dixie tour is already in full swing at the moment, having begun last night in Williamsport, PA, and its arrival here in RVA is imminent! Produced by Deanna Danger and New York City's Üla Überbusen, the show also features the talents of Raleigh, NC's Porcelain and NYC's Hazel Honeysuckle.

Üla Überbusen, who was a founding member of Tennessee's Salome Cabaret, now lives in NYC, teaching, acting, and playing her ukulele in addition to her regular burlesque performances. She has performed with the Dangerous Curves Ahead Tour and the Party Show Tour (don't you love these burlesque event names?) and recently appeared in the film The Cruel Tale Of The Medicine Man. Üla will act as the Mason Dixie Burlesque Tour's host, as well as playing her ukulele, and of course, adding her burlesque talents to the evening's program.

Porcelain is a burlesque performer and nude/alt/fetish model whose website also lists her as a "pastie maker extraordinaire"--which must come in handy on this particular tour. With experience performing at the Texas Burlesque Festival, New Orleans Burlesque Festival, Carolina Burlesque Fest, and DragonCon, word has it that Porcelain has the power to eat men alive... so enjoy the show, but don't get too close to the stage. You could end up with a broken heart--or a broken face!

Hazel Honeysuckle is another New York City girl, but she won "Princess Of Southern Exposure" at last year's Great Southern Exposure Pageant in Charlotte, NC. Therefore, it's clear that her appeal transcends regional borders to unite Yankees and Southerners in appreciation of her beauty. She performs with NYC all-classic burlesque troupe The Rhinestone Follies, and has appeared in other burlesque shows, including Wasabassco Burlesque, the Paper Dolls Troupe, Epic Win Burlesque, D20 Burlesque, and Erotic Broadway: Vintage Variety. And finally, she's apparently a bit of a nerd (though you wouldn't guess it by looking at her), so her set should be a treat for all you sci-fi fans out there.

The Richmond appearance of the Mason Dixie Burlesque Tour will also feature a special appearance by local starlet Deepa De Jour of the Richmond Burlesque Revue. Plus, you can expect plenty of games, raffles, singing, dancing, and comedy to accompany the evening's program of classic and modern burlesque. So, RVA burlesque fans, what are you waiting for? Grab your tickets now, and make sure you're front and center at Gallery 5 for what will certainly be one of the biggest local burlesque events of the year!
