With a slew of national tour dates recently announced, local Virginia band Eternal Summers is riding high atop their current wave of success. Now they’re looking to fans for help in producing their third studio album. The Roanoke-based lo-fi rock trio recently emerged from the studio with producer Doug Gillard (currently of Nada Surf, formerly of Guided By Voices) and naturally they’ve got big plans for mixing and mastering their latest musical opus. The group has launched a crowd-sourced funding campaign on Pledge Music with tons of swag and perks promised to backers.
Rather than waiting months until it drops, Eternal Summers has invited their fans to be a part of the entire album release process. Every pledger is guaranteed a digital download of the album once it’s finished, as well as access to the band’s exclusive behind the scenes website, where they can preview new songs, check out videos from the studio, and get sneak peaks at potential album artwork.
There are special rewards in store for backers with deeper pockets as well. Why settle for a signed copy of the album when you can get hooked on guitarist Nicole Yun’s favorite recipes? Or if cooking’s not your thing, you could just grab dinner with the band. Perhaps you’d prefer an original collage from drummer Daniel Cundiff, or even a special mix-tape from bassist Jonathan Woods? These are the one-of-a-kind rewards uber-fans dream of, and luckily they’ve come in abundance.
Best of all, a portion of the pledges received will go directly to Camp Sunshine, a Maine-based organization for children with life-threatening illnesses. Helping kids and making stellar new music--that’s the Eternal dream.
