They're back! California indie-rock sensation Best Coast, who charmed the city with their excellent set at RVA Music Fest 2011, are crisscrossing the country right now on tour. They'll be bringing their brand of sun-drenched punk/pop back to the river city with a performance at The National on Monday, June 3, and your friends at RVA Mag have the hookup! With last year's second LP, The Only Place, Best Coast proved that the amazing pop sensibility they'd displayed on breakout debut Crazy For You was not a fluke. While the title track extended the endorsement of California life that their band name communicates, most of the other songs on the album continued Crazy For You's tendency to combine jangly guitar pop loveliness with angst-ridden lyrics about lost love and general ennui. But hey, it's catchy enough to keep you from getting bummed out by the lyrics, and their energetic live performance should mingle with the excellent melodies to make their show at The National a thoroughly great time for all involved!

WHAT:Best Coast Rocks The National!

All you have to do is plug your info into this little widget right here for a chance to win two tickets to see Best Coast at The National. Keep an eye out for bonus chances for entry, and do it now--deadline for entry is Friday at 5 PM.

And just to increase the excitement surrounding the return of Best Coast to the sunny shores of RVA, we've got a special treat for you right here. Best Coast released a new single called "Fear Of My Identity" on Record Store Day, and if you didn't get a copy at the time, you'd probably have to pay a pretty penny to get a copy of the vinyl at this point. But that's OK, because you can listen to it right here. Unlike the more polished sound of The Only Place, "Fear Of My Identity" is a lot more like the grungier guitar sound that Best Coast had on Crazy For You. When you combine the increased punk vibe with one of the best choruses Bethany Cosentino has yet unleashed on the public, you get an absolute classic of a track. We can only hope that Best Coast have added it to the set for their performance at The National. Even if not, though, make sure you listen to it right now.
