Crowefest is a spectacle not often seen in the city limits. Perhaps its the proximity to interstate 95, or the abandoned house to the right and the old hippy house to the left, but it's hard to imagine such an outdoor party running so late, being so loud, and not getting shut down.
Crowefest seems to exist as a last bastion to local, quality, good time music - a variety of acts that span genre and age group, but are united by a town and a love of music. For those who get invited every year, its a kind of pilgrimage, and for those who came for the first time (myself included) it's an event that I look forward to adding to my regular summer show line up.
Below are some RVA videos from the day - there were more acts, and it doesn't totally capture the feel of the day - but rest assured, get to know the right people, and stay in touch with the town, and next year you might find yourself in the middle of the one of the last great backyard parties.
