That's right, two different local craft markets are currently seeking handmade arts and crafts to be sold this holiday season! Bizarre Market's seventh annual holiday show will take place for an entire month, from Nov. 25 until Dec. 24, at Chop Suey Books, while The Richmond Craft Mafia's Handmade Holiday show will take place on only one day, Sunday Dec. 11, at Plant Zero. Want to get involved in one or both of these excellent holiday craft events? Read on!
Bizarre Market Holiday is an annual juried show that accepts the handmade work of 60 artists/crafters. Accepted artists don't have to worry about set-up or sales--all goods will be installed and sold by a Bizarre Market Elf in the gallery at Chop Suey Books in Carytown! Goods are chosen by the jury based on quality, variety, and compatibility with the BZM aesthetic. 30% of total sales are taken for Elfish Welfare.
Paper goods, art, felty bits, knitted bits, repurposed bits, toys, jewelry, ceramics, t-shirts, bags, stuffed animals, and little handcrafted wonders of all kinds are wanted. Please apply in ONE category! It can be broad--for example, screen printed t-shirts, notecards and journals all come under the same category: printed goodies. If you make jewelry AND you knit, please choose ONE of those skills to apply with. While we love and appreciate a crafter who makes everything from candles to cat toys, it's too difficult for the jury to judge the multi-category entries alongside the single-category ones.
To apply, send an email to bizarremarket@gmail.com with ALL of the following information: Name, Email, Phone number, Item descriptions, Price points, Website/photos of items. We don't need individual pics of every single thing, but we do need at least 3 photos of the type of work you make. The application deadline is November 4th, and accepted vendors will receive notification and shop details shortly after the deadline.
