Lots of fresh tunes to compliment some gigantic announcements this week. Bonnaroo dropped a huge lineup with a healthy mix of genre. Radiohead, Phish, and the reincarnated Red Hot Chili Peppers are headlining. The biggest surprise in my opinion on the lineup is the Beach Boys, who haven’t toured together in two decades! I mean, I’m most excited for Radiohead but you can bet that I won’t miss this chance to bridge a musical generation gap. The Roo showed love to electronic fans with names like Skrillex, Major Lazer, Big Gigantic, and Mimosa on the bill. To be honest, I was most impressed with the hip hop aspect this year, though. Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli), and Ludacris anchor a deep and talented pool of artists lincluding Mac Miller, Childish Gambino, and Yelawolf. Overall, I’d have to say that this years lineup is much more pleasing than the year before. Might actually go brave the dirty, sweaty, country camping life this summer instead of my planned alternative - an air conditioned condo on the Gulf of Mexico for Hangout Fest.
Phase 2 of the Ultra lineup was released. Benny Benassi, Madeon, Alvin Risk, Wolfgang Gartner, Martin Sloveig, Pendulum, Dash Berlin, and many more add to the hottest electronic festival lineup in America. Nothing can top Miami Music Week and the events that go down in Southern Florida at the end of March. If you didn’t get a ticket to UMF, go anyway. Hit pool parties, clubs, and special shows all over the place that have nothing to do with Ultra; a guaranteed banging time regardless.
The Dub101 Bassdread show last week was awesome and my interview with the DJ duo will be up soon. They ripped it, though. The Canal Club got cray and I can safely say that we are all ready for the next one.
